Candle Care

First burn
When you first light your candle, always let the top layer melt completely. If this is not done properly your candle will start tunneling, creating a “memory ring”.
Aim for an even burn every time to get the most out of your candles.
-
Wick trimming
Trim your wick to 3/16" (5mm) before lighting every time. A taller wick will create a bigger flame resulting in a bad hot fragrance throw, have trouble staying lit, and create soot in your jar.
-
Burning time
Do not burn longer than 4 hours. Stop burning when 1/2" (13mm) of unmelted wax remains. The bottom of the glass may get hot and can possibly damage the surface it is on. Always burn your candles on a heat resistant surface.
-
Tunneling
If you’re experiencing tunneling you can use aluminum foil. Create a hat (leave an opening at the top) hugging the outside. Allow your candle to burn for ~30 minutes and the wax on the sides should be melted.
-
Short wick
Light your candle and take a paper towel to soak up some of the liquified wax to allow your wick to have a bigger flame.
-
Leftover wax
When your candle can no longer be lit and you have wax leftover at the bottom of your jar, you can safely use that excess wax in a wax warmer.
One way to remove the wax from the jar is to put your jar in the freezer for an hour and pop the wax right out.
Another method is to boil water and pour that (once boiled water has cooled) into the jar and let it sit for a few hours. During this time the wax will melt to the top and harden. Use the remaining wax in a wax warmer and discard the water.
-
Label removal
Our labels are 100% compostable and made of sugarcane and can be easily removed by running your jar under water, lightly rubbing the label off and allowing it to disintegrate.
